When I was invited for an overnight stay at the Galgorm Resort & Spa I could not have been more excited!
The Galgorm is well known as one of Northern Ireland’s top luxury hotel and spas. Located only 30 minutes from Belfast (and just under an hour away from where I live on the County Down coast) the Galgorm is the perfect place to relax and get away from it all, and trust me, I like to relax.
Nutritional Yeast… or nooch as we connoisseurs like to call it, is a savoury, cheesey flavoured seasoning, jam-packed with a load of essential nutrients that is a staple of most vegans’ food cupboard. If you haven’t tried it, you need to. This stuff is brilliant.
To me (and most other rational people) nooch is a seasoning, however the big bad guys over at Slimming World have added a syn value to it (a whopping 2.5 per ‘level’ tablespoon)… which in my opinion is just ridiculous. So I did a little research…
Wow… 2017….
Time has really been getting away from me lately. The house has come on leaps and bounds since I last posted, in fact we have just submitted plans to building control for the long-awaited extension. And let me tell you, I cannot wait to FINALLY have a kitchen!
But in the mean time, I’m back on the Slimming World band wagon (after falling off HARD). I thought I’d post some of the Slimming World friendly Vegan recipes I’ve been enjoying. I’m all about quick, low-syn and tasty… and if you’re like me then I know you’ll love these.
The phrase “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” has never been truer than with this old cistern.
My husband’s friend took it out of an old retirement home that were updating their sanitaryware and he immediately knew it would be something that would interest us. He sent a photo straight across to my husband to see if we wanted to restore it and use it in the house renovation.
We are almost at the stage of the house renovation where we will have to take a step back and let the professionals in to do their thing.
We are pretty capable when it comes to the basic house renovation things, but plastering and major tiling projects are out of our remit.
I’ve added a handy little shelf to the outside lavatory where we can store toilet roll, room spray and the like and I thought I’d share it with you.
We didn’t want to add a toilet roll holder or anything to the room as its only a single skin block wall with lathe and boards on the inside, so it may at times have some damp in the air – and I don’t want mushy toilet roll!
We’ve been working away like busy little bees over the past month or so, and while we are waiting for the plasterer to come at the end of this month we took on a little side project – refurbishing the original outhouse aka outside toilet/garden’s toilet/outside lavatory…
We’ve been working on the new house since November – staying with my parents while we get the big stuff done – and we are starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel…
While all the things we have been doing between the two of us could easily have been done super quick if we had the money to get a tonne of professionals in, we aren’t in a position to do that, we have to pick and choose what we can and can’t do ourselves, which is why everything is taking so long.
